The Beauty of Balance

Author: Mooreganics  //  Category: natural skin products

Nature, in all its incredibly magnificent forms, willingly devotes itself to our good health and pleasure.

Pure water, earth, plants, minerals, the ocean…offers human beings healing, comfort, shelter, and everything we need to live comfortably. Skilled doctors and surgeons compliment nature with their ability to heal. Add exercise, massage, acupuncture, and other healing arts, and we have a recipe for abundance and well-being that harmonizes with the natural balance of human beings and the planet.

Living is often hard, exhausting work. Physical labor tones, strengthens, detoxifies, and keeps our bodies working optimally. Long ago life was very physical. Then our brains devised ways to give us more free time, ease, and rest – something we can all appreciate! The problem came when people started substituting artificial, synthetic chemicals for nature in the entire scheme of things to get faster and more aggressive results. Instead of backbreaking work, weeds can be killed with herbicides and pesticides. Pesky bugs can be exterminated with insecticides. We can eat junk food and take synthetic pills to make us feel better. We can waylay sickness by killing germs on countertops with strong, lab-generated chemicals. This brings us to the Bad News, Equation #1:

Synthetic drugs, known to be toxic and degenerate health, build up in the human body, accumulate in the vast oceans and lakes where they are magnified in the fish we eat, collect in the soil where we grow our crops, and in the fresh water that we drink. Constant contaminant poisoning has been linked to the development of asthma, cancer, digestive disorders, hormonal imbalances, diabetes, obesity, and more. Our bodies just don’t know what to do with the junk. We might get quicker results, but the question to ask is what quality of life are we living?

We were made from the dust of the earth. From out of the earth comes the ingredients we need to stay healthy. It’s true, and it makes sense. For so long we have trusted companies to create safe, quality, healthful products and food. Now we’re not sure who to trust. Companies tell us their products are safe, and even spend billions of dollars in advertising to prove it: beautiful, witty, fun-loving people enjoying life to the extreme using their products, drugs, or eating their food. And the health fanatics are – well, just weird!

Or are they? Perhaps we’ve gotten so far away from living close to the earth that we can’t understand those doing it.

Miessence – an advant-garde company formulating beautiful, clean, potent products from nature that make you think twice about the chemicals you’re using.

Go into your bathroom and take a look at the labels on the following products: toothpaste, mouthwash, body wash, bar soap, hand soap, deodorant, lotion, and body powder. Do they sound like ingredients from nature or from a lab? You’ll have to be savvy because many companies hide artificial ingredients in words that sound like nature, but are actually chemically derived. Also, the word ‘natural’ allows plant ingredients to be genetically-modified, and grown with the application of toxic chemicals. And if the fragrance smells like no mango or coconut you’ve ever smelled before, it’s probably fake. Then remember that your skin is the body’s largest organ, and that it absorbs all the ingredients you rub onto it. Even the fumes can be dangerous.

Now, take a look at these pure ingredients in the same products made gently and respectfully by Miessence: certified organic (co) aloe vera leaf juice, (co) essential oils and extracts, (co) avocado and sunflower seed oils, (co) shea fruit butter, (co) coconut oil, white kaolin clay, sea salt…

Sound different? And the side-effects of using ingredients straight from unspoiled nature soothe, comfort, revitalise, restore, and beautify – naturally!

Miessence has made the process of utilising nature simple for you – without the nasty chemicals and backbreaking, physical labor! And it wasn’t that difficult. We’ve put together a Healthy Bathroom Changeover Pack at 20% off the retail price for the month of July. So many vibrant, fresh ingredients waiting to work their magic on you!

Our Hair Care Ingredients vs. Theirs - Come On, is There Really a Choice?
Theirs:

1. Cocoamide DEA (diethanolamine) can cause nitrosamine contamination, which is a potent carcinogen. Cocoamide DEA is a detergent that causes allergic reactions, including eye problems, dryness of hair and skin, and can be toxic if absorbed into the body over a long period of time.

2. Propylene Glycol is a petroleum derivative and industrial antifreeze. It’s so toxic that the EPA requires workers to wear protective gloves, clothing and goggles. Because PG penetrates the skin so quickly, the EPA warns against skin contact to prevent consequences such as brain, liver, and kidney abnormalities.

3. Sodium Lauryl Sulfate, Ammonium Lauryl Sulfate is used in car washes and engine degreasers – and in 90% of products that foam. Animals exposed to SLS and ALS experience eye damage, central nervous system depression, laboured breathing, diarrhea, severe skin irritation, and even death. Frequently disguised in semi-natural cosmetics with the explanation “comes from coconut”.

4. Suttocide (sodium hydroxymethylglycinate) is a formaldehyde releasing preservative used in many ‘natural’ shampoos. Formaldehyde is a suspected carcinogen and is extremely toxic when inhaled or swallowed.

5. Fragrances can contain allergens and senstisers, which can trigger asthma attacks. Fragrances also contain chemicals called phthalates, which are hormone disruptors that can affect foetal development and fertility and damage sperm in men.

6. Ext. D&C synthetic colours are made from coal tar and are certified safe for drugs and cosmetics, but not for food. Toxic coal tar has been shown to be carcinogenic in animal tests, and many people are allergic to it.

Ours:

1. Coco Glucoside an extremely gentle, yet effective, cleansing agent made from glucose and coconut fatty acids. Non-toxic, fully biodegradable and mild on the skin.

2. Certified Organic Aloe Vera has healing, soothing, antibacterial, and moisturising properties.

3. Yucca Juice contains natural saponins that gently cleanse and repair damage to cell membranes of the scalp and skin, helping to prevent nutrient loss.

4. Certified Organic Avocado Oil restores lustre to the hair and hydrates dry and damaged ends.

5. Certified Organic Horsetail Extract is an effective remedy for psoriasis, dandruff, eczema, and similar skin conditions.

6. Panthenol is the provitamin of pantothenic acid (vitamin B5). It improves the moisture-retention capacity of the skin and stimulates skin regeneration. It has anti-inflammatory and anti-itching effects. It makes hair easier to comb, reduces hair splitting, improves the condition of damaged hair, thickens the hair, and provides sheen.

7. Bitter Orange Extract is a natural antibacterial agent that acts as a mild preservative in our hair care products.

1. Good for people! ~ Organic based ingredients have been shown in a number of studies to contain more vitamins, nutrients, and cancer-fighting antioxidants than non-organic ingredients.

2. Good for the soil! ~ Organic systems rely on a modern and scientific understanding of ecology and soil science, while also depending on traditional methods of crop rotations to ensure fertility and weed and pest control.

3. Good for the environment! ~ Organic systems aim at reducing dependence on non-renewable resources. Organic production aims at all times towards sustainability whilst having the best management of the environment and wildlife as a priority.

4. No synthetic chemicals! ~ Organic systems prohibit the use of artificial chemicals, pesticides and fertilisers.

5. No GMO’s! ~ Certified Organic products are produced without GMOs, which are prohibited in the standards for organic food and farming.

Hair Detox

Author: Mooreganics  //  Category: natural skin products

Each product in the luxurious Healthy Hair Pack I posted about yesterday has been uniquely formulated with ingredients certified organic to international food standards to help your hair become all that it can be – naturally. Each ingredient is pure and potent and works harmoniously to gently cleanse and condition hair and scalp. Together they create the perfect balance of astringent, moisturising, antibacterial, emollient, and restorative properties.

However, you may experience a hair detox when using our products for the first few weeks if you have been using hair care with silicone derivatives. Commercial hair care products often leave your hair coated with plastic from the silicone derivatives (dimethicone, cylcomethicone, any chemical with ‘cone’ in it) they contain. Our shampoos will not foam, and the hair care will not work effectively until you have removed this coating by detoxing your hair. This can be done a number of ways:

- Over time – Using our products until detox happens naturally. (The Clarifying Hair Rinse will help assist this.)

- Detoxing your hair by taking a few baths with this natural solution added and soaking your hair in it: 1 cup sea salt, 1 cup apple cider vinegar, 2 cups bicarb soda.

- Making a paste of one of our shampoos and bicarb soda and washing your hair with it several times.

- Making a paste of clay – one of our masks, or just clay from the health food store – combined with our shampoo, and washing your hair with it several times.

While your hair is detoxing, it may feel dry and knotty. This is normal, as the silicone is being eliminated from your hair. Once the silicone has been dissolved, you will find that our shampoo foams and your hair is silky and soft. Protect Hair Repair will help with knots during the detox process.
