The certified organic way to look and feel good
Scientific research shows that neutralizing free radical damage is the smartest way to prevent premature ageing. But it requires a lot of time and effort: even those Australians who strive to eat seven serves of fruit and veg each day struggle to obtain the level of nutrients required for optimal health on a regular basis
The new look of miessence Berry Radical is a simple, pure way to achieve a daily antioxidant boost. “Berry Radical has been reformulated by adding even more of the antioxidant berries and we’ve repackaged it into a new easy-serve container,“ says creator Narelle Chenery. “If you don’t consume the recommended amount of fruit and vegetables – 7 servings or 3.5 cups equivalent – you really need Berry Radical to increase your antioxidant levels and general wellbeing.”
Each heaped teaspoon of miessence Berry Radical contains a potent combination of 9 of the most antioxidant-rich certified organic superfoods on the planet. The ingredients have been scientifically proven by Brunswick Laboratories, a world leader in oxidative stress research, to neutralize free radical damage caused by environmental pollution, cigarette smoke and poor diet.
“Even those of us who eat well at home and exercise regularly are exposed to varying levels of pollution, cigarette smoke and processed or pre-prepared foods each day,” says Narelle. “A daily dose of delicious Berry Radical helps slow the damaging elements of modern life that cause illness and ageing. It’s so convenient – just a teaspoonful of the cocoa and berry-rich powder in a smoothie or just add hot water, sweetener and milk, and you’re giving your body the power to mop up damaging free radicals.”
Berry Radical is a healthy way to start the day and a great energy-boosting alternative for those who can’t kick the caffeine habit. Simply blend with hot water, rice milk or soy milk and sweeten to taste.
What are free radicals and why do we need antioxidants?
Oxidation occurs when free radicals (highly reactive particles) ricochet wildly through the body and damage cells. Free radicals are a by-product of the body’s natural biological processes and are also introduced into our bodies via tobacco smoke, toxins, pollutants and unhealthy eating habits. Free radicals are believed to accelerate the progression of cancer and age-related diseases. However, scientists have found that antioxidants found in fresh fruit and vegetables can neutralise free radicals.
What are ORAC Units and how many do we need?
ORAC, short for Oxygen Radical Absorbance Capacity, is a measurement of the total antioxidant power of a substance. The more free radicals a substance can absorb, the higher its ORAC score.
Nutritionists recommend around 5000 ORAC Units per day or ideally 10 servings (5 cups) of fruit and vegetables. One serving of miessence Berry Radical contains over 4000 ORAC Units, so you’re well on your way to the daily requirement.
