Reflect is a water-free nourishing balm with natural minerals that help reflect damaging ultraviolet radiation. Micro-fine zinc oxide offers protection from harmful rays whilst organic olive oil keeps the skin supple.
Potent antioxidants including natural vitamin E, beta carotene and polygonum extract, protect the skin from premature aging and prevent damage caused by the elements. Use any time you are exposed to the elements.
Why Do We Need Natural Sun Protection?
We all know that getting sunburnt is not a good idea and that sunscreen is the way to prevent sunburn… but what are those chemicals in commercial sunscreens? Latest research has begun to discover some serious problems:
Octyl-methoxycinnamate – produces free radicals (singlet molecular oxygen) known to be toxic to cells (1)
Titanium dioxide – causes DNA damage (the cells genetic material) due to superoxide radicals, active oxygenradicals and hydroxyl radicals when exposed to light (2) (3) (4)
Oxybenzone – is rapidly oxidized in the presence of light and inactivates important antioxidant systems in the skin (the skin’s natural protection system) (5)
PABA – produces free radicals in the presence of light (1)
Cinoxate – causes DNA damage (sister chromatid exchanges) (6)

What type of mineral is used in Reflect?
Zinc oxide is the mineral used in Reflect. It has over a 300 year history of safety with no known adverse reactions (which is why it is often used to treat babies). It protects against UVB and most of the UVA spectrum and is the closest thing to a total sunblock on the market today. No other sunscreen ingredient provides broader protection (1).

It is amazing what summertime brings to our area. Historic Gettysburg is always a place to explore, whether it be the battle grounds or the many shops along the square. This week wraps up a plethora of activities at the annual Gettysburg Festival. There are events for people of all ages so check out the calendar of events to see what suits your fancy. There are even Fringe Festivals held at additional locations. One I know my kids will get a kick out of is the Quarry Critters to be held at the Farm Fresh Market this Friday at the Gettysburg Outlets. Click here for more information.
I spent most of the day running errands preparing for tomorrow’s celebration. I am so in love with my husband and it is the occurrence of a day like tomorrow, Father’s Day, that reminds me to show how much I appreciate him. He is the friend and lover I married and the father of my beautiful daughters. I love to secretly watch him play ever so gently and lovingly with the kids like swinging on the swing-set or him playing the piano while the “ladies” dance in Disney’s finest attire. They truly have a very special bond with their “superhero” daddy. He isn’t afraid to be all goofy and silly with them. There is much love, laughter, and warmth in our lives because of our Man of the House. I love you honey…..always.
I am very excited about the fact that my garden is growing and we are eating its bounty. I have to chuckle because I planted most of the squares in my sq foot garden in mid-april and as the sprouts began to emerge from the earth, well I asked my husband with all seriousness, “do you think those are weeds or the seeds sprouting?” Ha! Yep this is my very first attempt a gardening, much less growing something from seeds! Now that we are two months in we have enjoyed the beginnings of our harvest, mainly because I can pick at most of the greens and they seem to double overnight.
This whole gardening process has me checking on my garden more than once per day and I am enjoying just being still and listening to my surroundings. …kids laughing, birds chirping, dogs playing. Why did it take me to the end of my 30s to discover such bliss?
Wow, I picked greens out of my garden just before a storm rolled in and it barely looks like I have taken anything. I ended up with 2 gallon bags of salad greens and 3 gallon bags of swiss chard/kale/beet greens. Amazing how much comes out of squarefoot gardening. I am wondering if my zuchini and snap peas are going to prove as bountiful. I guess I better start looking for folks who would like some extra produce just in case I get the over abundance so many folks warn about .
